Hot take on the ISP regulations commentary that’s been going around:
I’ve seen a lot of “the telecom industry bought off your Representative and Senators” commentary. It’s a popular narrative: nonpartisan and a clear moral indictment. But this bill was passed on a party-line vote. It’s not that telecoms don’t donate to Democrats, and it’s not that Dems are immune to lobbying.
Say rather: the telecoms haven’t bought some set of Congressmen. They, and the deregulatory interests of of money, have bought the Republican Party.
